Acrobat Reader Tips

Obtaining, Installing & Using Acrobat Reader

Obtaining a FREE copy of the Acrobat Reader:
The Acrobat Reader is distributed directly by Adobe for FREE at www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html. Please follow the directions on the Adobe website for the download and installation of the Reader.

Our customers can save download time by receiving a free, complementary CD-ROM from Hightech Signs with any order. The CD-ROM contains Acrobat Reader software for Windows 3. 1, Windows 95, Apple, OS/2, Unix, and several other systems.

Installing Acrobat Reader via CD-ROM:
To install the Reader Adobe states, "Open the "Reader" folder on the CD-ROM. Open the folder for your platform and then view the ReadMe file, which provides complete installation instructions and system requirements."

Windows 95 users will want to select the following folders: "Acroread", "Win", "Reader", "32 bit" ("16 bit" for Windows 3.1), and then double click on the "Setup" icon. The setup wizard will walk you through the rest of the setup automatically.

Using Acrobat Reader:
After the Acrobat Reader is installed, start the Adobe Acrobat Reader program as you would any other program on your system. On Windows 95, from the Start Menu select Programs and Acrobat Reader. On Windows 3.1, go to the program group for the Acrobat Reader and double click on the Acrobat Reader Icon. On Macintosh, find the Acrobat Reader folder and double click on the Acrobat Reader Icon.

Once the Acrobat Reader is up and running, simply click on the "File" menu and select "Open". Open the file you saved from the email attachment sent by Hightech Signs. This will give you a draft of the sign or graphic that we have created for you. An email response can provide us with your feedback regarding the sign or graphic that we sent to you.

Please Note: Adobe Acrobat is an outstanding package for preserving graphics and signs. It also does an excellent job of reproducing colors across platforms, but the colors on your screen may be different than the colors in your sign. With the great variety of Video Cards, Monitors, and Computer Systems, exact color consistency cannot be guaranteed.
